The date marks, for Catholics, the day for the veneration of the Magi, which the tradition that emerged in the 8th century converted into the saints Melchior, Gaspar and Baltazar. On this date, Christmas celebrations are closed for Catholics – the day when cribs are disarmed and therefore all Christmas ornaments are removed.
